CSPI's history began with the establishment of the Planning and Evaluation Unit (UPP) on 1 September 1987. In January 1995, the unit was officially named the Centre for Strategic Planning (PPS) and placed under the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation). PPS, is the center which coordinates strategic planning and managing the official information of the University. In 2013, PPS renamed the Center for Strategic Planning and Information (CSPI) in accordance with its functions in coordinating research institutions. Now, CSPI cooperate closely with the Strategic Planning Unit (UPS) at the level of the Center of Responsibility (CoR) which covers the State Campuses and the Faculties within UiTM system. Retrospectively, CSPI is proud to be the catalyst that set the stage and create a ripple that triggers a wave of major changes for the sake of making UiTM as a renowned higher learning institutions globally.
